Happy Birthday Logan

December 29, 2012

Today Logan is three!! Logan and Daddy went to the wave pool and out for lunch. Aubrey and Mom stayed home because Aubrey is very sick with the flu.  Logan loves going down the slide at the wave pool and had a lot of fun.

I asked Logan some questions and below are his answers or what I thought he would say if he could put it into words:

What’s your favorite activity: Colouring, using my scissors, swimming, going to the zoo and the science centre
What’s your favorite animal: Donkey (lol, this surprised us)

What is your favorite thing to eat: Tiger Ice cream and Oatmeal

Favorite Colors: Logan likes all the colors but usually asks for the orange cup and plate if he is given the choice

Logan is such a wonderful little boy, we love him so much.  He loves being active, always wants to be out doing something, I think he would be happiest if we could be out of the house at 9:00am everyday.  He is usually up by 6:30am and always asking for us to make him Oatmeal. He loves books but has now discovered TV is fun also. He is a big helper always wants to help mom cook dinner, set the table and do dishes.  He loves being a big brother and loves playing with Aubrey. He is so happy and has the best laugh! Logan gives the best hugs and kisses.  He has starting to use the potty most of the time but still is a little unsure of the big potty but like everything else I know he will use it when he is ready.  Happy Birthday Logan we love you so much! 

Happy Birthday Aubrey

I can't believe my baby is 1!! This year has gone by so fast! Best year if my life. It's fun to think back, when I found out we were having a girl. When we found out Aubrey was breach and that I needed to have a c section (2 days before my due date) that was stressful and showed us that anything can happen. I can remember her in my belly and I loved her even before she was born and she was part of our family. The first time I saw her laying on the bed, I couldn't believe how beautiful she was. What a special little girl we have!! We are so lucky. I never want her to go one day without feeling loved and special! I want her to be proud to be a girl to have confidence to be kind and loving and for her to follow her dreams to know that she has worth the only person she needs to impress is our Heavenly Father and for her to do her best.

It's fun to see her personality come out. She is sweet and sensitive but she has no problem telling me or anyone else what she wants or doesn't want. I love her so so much! I always call her angel because that's what she is to me.

Logan and Aubrey's Birthday Party

Today  December 8, 2012 we had Logan and Aubrey's birthday party. We had it at the church gym. I think Logan had lots of fun, I think Aubrey had fun also but I was so busy trying to get things ready that I didn't give her the attention she needs which is the only thing that makes her most happy.

We rented a bouncy house, had chicken nuggets, fries and Shawn's mom got made some really fun cakes. I made sugar cookies so the kids could decorate them. I think this was my first party I have done by myself, I put a lot of thought in to it and I think it went well. It was surprisingly expensive but it makes me want to host another party.

Gratitude

When I was younger my mom gave me this book and each day you would have a little piece of inspiration to read. One day the writer encouraged the readers to start a gratitude journal. Now if I have a bad day or week I try to remember to write down the things I am grateful for. This week has been really hard but I have so much to be grateful for.
I have two healthy amazing children
I have a loving, kind husband
I have three sisters who are my very best friends
I have a wonderful mother and father
I belong to a church that encourages me to be better who brings only light to the world
I live sin a wonderful country, even if its freezing I wouldn't want to live anywhere else
Me and my family is healthy
I have the power to be whatever I want to be.

I could go on forever but I'm grateful to be alive and I hope each day I can bring only love and kindness to others lives.

One month until Christmas!

We set up our Christmas tree today. It's fun to think about where we were last year. Last year when we were setting up our tree I was very pregnant and I had just finished work. Life goes by very fast.

I'm really happy right now, life is so good! Work is going well for Shawn, I get to stay home full time and watch the kids. Everyone is healthy!

Some more very exciting news! Logan has started to use the potty!! One day we came home and said he wanted to wear his underwear (Aubrey had to wear some underwear also) and then he just went to the potty and went pee. We are just taking it slow so we will see how it goes maybe he will be potty trained by the time he goes to sunbeams. Every time Logan goes potty we give him tiger ice cream (just once a day).

I'm officially a stay at home mom

I officially resigned from PwC. No more maternity leave, no more work. This year has gone by so fast! The best year of my life, I love having Logan and Aubrey. It's so fun being home but now that I have no more money from mat leave I keep thinking of ways I could make money. Its really important I spend my time with my family but if i can find a way to make a little money in the side i wont pass that up.

Aubrey has now started to stand by herself! She has been doing that for about a week. She is growing so fast! She is really funny, she has learned how to get my attention by yelling at me. Right now we are struggling with her sleeping with us every night. I need to train her to sleep on her own I have set a goal to put her crib in Logan's room and Logan can sleep with his dad for a few nights while I work with Aubrey to sleep in her own crib.

I have also made a goal to potty train Logan in December so we will see how that goes.

Growing so fast

Sometimes I will look at my babies and be amazed how fast they grow! This year of Aubrey's life has truly been the best year of my life. When Logan was a baby I loved that time but I think I was too overwhelmed with having a knew baby and I was also so worried all the time that I was going to leave him to go back to work. I think this time having Aubrey has made me relize that time goes by so fast and I should enjoy every second.

This week November 8 Aubrey stood all by herself she will be walking before we know it.

I love the stage Logan is at, he now listens to me 90% of the time, he is talking lots, and is always giving me hugs and kisses. Sometimes he will say the most random things. The other day Logan said "Aubrey is a princes and I said that's right she is. Is logan my prince? "no I'm a car". Love him so much!!

Halloween Fun

We have had lots of Halloween fun and Halloween is in five days. Logan is dressing up as a fighter pilot and Aubrey is a cat, they are so cute!

Thursday we carved are first pumpkin ever. Friday Amanda invited us to go to a Halloween party her ward arranged. It was lots of fun, there was a dance and crafts but Logan hated it and wanted to go home. I think it was a combination of lots if scary costumes and photos and he was tired. On Saturday we went to the science centre. There was face painting, a bouncy house, pumpkin decorating and then all the regular fun stuff the science centre has to offer so we spent most the day there and logan had a blast and Aubrey had fun too. Not sure how trick or treating will go because Logan gets scared of unfamiliar things very easily but we will see. I was so sad it was getting so cold but we have had so much fun I'm starting to forget about it (a little).

Week of October 8

This week was a good week but it's now starting to get colder so we are staying inside more and the past few weeks Logan has been watching more tv. I find now Logan has started expecting tv and doesn't like reading books as much. I really don't want tv to be part of our routine but if I want Aubrey to have a good nap it's best if I go nurse her in quite and sit with her while she sleeps for a few minutes then she will have longer naps. Then while Aubrey is napping if Logan watches a show I can get so much done (cleaning and cooking). Shawn and I talk about moving into a bigger place and I really want to but I feel like I spend a bit of time cleaning already.

The week ahead I want to have a clear schedule of what we are going to do each day.

Gratitude is what life is about

Today Shawn told me a story of a lady who died from a rock hitting her while she was driving to go on vacation with her husband and two young children. This was such a devastating story. I believe no child should go without their mother. This story reminds me of how fragile life is. We should not take even one day for granted.

I was talking to Shawn about what I should do when my mat leave is done in November (thinking he would want me to do something to make money) and he said that for now I should stay home. It made me so happy to hear him say that, that I could focus my attention on our family. This year has been the greatest year of my life. When Logan 10 months all I could think of was that I might have to leave him in daycare. It's been so nice just to enjoy my children. I could not ask for more in life, I have the most beautiful family!

I'm grateful I get to stay home and spend all my time with most amazing babies. I'm grateful for my husband who truly loves me and would do anything for me and and our family.in grateful I have an amazing mother and father and three sisters who are my very best friends. I could go on forever with every thing I'm grateful for.

Thanksgiving long weekend

It's been a really fun long weekend and week. On Thursday we went to the open house of the calgary temple, it was beautiful. Logan loved going and would say "let's go see the guy on top of the temple" (angle Moroni).
On Saturday we went to the Science Centre then to The Rasmussen house for thanksgiving dinner. On Sunday we went to my mom and dads for thanksgiving dinner. It's just nice to have Shawn home for an extra day.

Aubrey can now drink from a straw. Which Is very exciting, it just makes life a little easier.

It's getting colder so now I'm going to have to start to think of activities to do inside. Summer was so fun so I'm sad that the nice weather is over but now it's Halloween and Christmas and birthdays.

Week of September 17

This week was a great week, on Wednesday I got to help with some of the landscaping at the temple. There is a mad rush to get everything ready for the open house in less then a week. It was fun to help in a very small way. Logan is very excited to go to the temple. This week we went to the zoo twice by ourselves. I feel grateful we live so close to such an amazing place. That will make it hard to eventually move. On Saturday we attended Abigail's bday party, Logan is loves birthdays so he was very excited. Abigail and Logan get along really well.

Week of September 10

I can't believe how fast time goes, before I know it Aubrey will be turning 1! The thought of that makes me sad. I am just so in love with the age she is now. I just love watching both Logan and Aubrey discover knew things and become there own little people so I know when she turns one I will love that age too.

This week we did just the regular things, we went to the science centre on Monday, on Tuesday Music makers started again, Thursday zoo and Friday we hung out with Ashley and Abigail. When Shawn has shifts we will try to go down and play at the park, there are lots of bunnies that hang around the building so on Wednesday when Shawn worked we ran around outside and chased the bunny. On Saturday we went to Dalins birthday party. Logan right now is obsessed with birthdays and birthday cake and singing happy birthday. So logan had so much fun at his birthday party. I will attach a video of Logan being part of a race at the party.
